President Obama's Drive To Rio Rancho High School

Here’s some video I shot of President Obama’s drive to Rio Rancho High School on Thursday. It was recorded and uploaded in HD to YouTube.

The first part of the video is the drive down Loma Colorado. I couldn’t drive and film at the same time so set the camera on the dashboard. You can see the camera crews and protesters on the left. The New Mexico Independent says there were about 100 protestors.

The second part of the video shows the presidents cadillac one and the following motorcade driving up Northern Blvd. The Lowes parking lot gave a great vantage point. In retrospect I should have walked down and filmed from the corner of Northern Blvd and Loma Colorado.

For some reason strangers always come up and talk to me and a several people asked me why we were all watching. Many were pissed that they couldn’t drive down Northern Blvd.

RADLAC: Electron Beam Propagation Experiment

In 2005 I found a cool framed illustration at Goodwill. It was marked for $16 but was on sale for $8. Other than being a “Electron Beam Propagation Experiment” my google searches tell me this is some sort of weapon made at Sandia Labs. The original frame has been replaced since it broke (it was ugly and damaged anyway).

Today someone left a comment with a little more info on Flickr.

Score! I’ve been researching pulsed power experiments at Sandia, and I just stumbled across mention of the RADLAC machine. RADLAC was built for the USAF & the SDIO to evaluate ultra-high-power, pulsed electron beam accelerators as potential “Star Wars” directed energy weapons.

Wanna sell it? 🙂

President Obama Speaks At Rio Rancho High School

I think President Obama is stalking me. First he speaks at my former High School, Dobson High in Mesa, Arizona. Now he will be speaking at the high school a few miles from my house, Rio Rancho High School.

The Albuquerque Journal says the event is from 10AM to 11:15AM Thursday, May 14th and Obama will talk about Credit Card debt.

I will try to get some video of the chaos around town with my new HD camera.

The Roswell UFO incident Will Never Go Away

Roswell New Mexico was the site of a supposed alien crash site in 1947. In 2002 UFO researchers found a tiny piece of metal that isn’t native to the Roswell area. It must be from the UFO!

The Metal is aluminum silicon, which is a common alloy made on planet earth, isn’t native to Roswell because it’s a man made metal. However “proper scientific analysis” will apparently prove that the metal is from the alien space craft.

The UFO investigators have apparently ran out of money for the additional testing, whatever that is.

Albuquerque Craigslist: 1950 Fleetline, 1967 Mustang & 1973 F100

I often check out the Albuquerque Craigslist to see what kind of cars are being sold.

Here’s a 1950 Chevrolet Fleetline for $4500. The poster says it’s 99% complete (with restoration I assume). If so that seems like a good price.

A 1967 Ford Mustang Convertable for $14000. It’s a steep price unless the car has low miles, even if it’s in really good shape.

1967 Convertible, Windsor White, Red Interior, 289 V-8 Engine, 3 Speed Manual Transmission. Would be a good car to clone into a Shelby Convertible. Very basic model, not a rust bucket. Good interior, good body, no major damage, needs new home. Garage stored, floor panels are good and original. Basically needs nothing. This is what I’d do with it but don’t have the time right now. This car is perfect for a project although it is good as is.

How about a 1973 Ford F100 Pickup for $1900. Again, no idea how many miles but may not be a bad deal if it’s really in the condition stated.

73 ford f100 360 v8 1/2 ton 2wd white in decent condition barely any rust at all/ minor dents. interior is in awsome condition. no cracked or broken windows No stereo (hasn’t had one the entire time i’ve had the truck, never had money to get a new one) has 2 gas tanks. 22.5 and 19 gallon tanks, and a side tool box built into the truck. Runs well, just replaced starter silanoid, battery, valve cover gaskets,
as well as the transmission pan gasket and filter. had a full tune up on the 25th of april.

Ugh… We still are not done with the wind. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for today with winds up to 45 MPH. Thankfully Sunday is looking better.

Mythbusters Uses New Mexico Tech's Rocket Sled

The Mythbusters were testing weather two semi trucks that collide at highway speeds into a car would turn the car into a pancake and fuse the semis trucks together. The were not able to prove either scenarios.

In usual Mythbusters fashion, they have to see what it will take to do what they were testing. To turn a car into a pancake, they went to New Mexico Tech to use their rocket rail to smash the car. There is a video of the results on YouTube.

They also fused sheets of metal together using explosives. If I can find that video I will add it.
